The NORTH WALES GIRLS’ FOOTBALL LEAGUE (NWGFL)
was established in 2002 and the founding Clubs included:
Amwlch, Buckley, Conway Borough, Denbigh, Flint & Bagillt, Kinmel Bay, Llanfairpwll, Llysfaen, Penyffordd, St Asaph, Wrexham, Ynys Mon. These were followed in the second year by Corwen, Hawarden, Llangefni, Mold, Rhyl and Ruthin. Two English Clubs, Blacon and Vicars Cross, were also allowed to join the League as nothing was established for them in their areas in England. These two Clubs were able to flourish under the wing of the NWGFL and are now established in the English League.
The objectives of the NWGFL are to:
i) provide the structure for girls to play and develop their football skills from grass roots to senior level
ii) support the development of coaches and officials
iii) improve facilities
iv) produce players for future National Squads
The NWGFL holds a tournament every year to encourage new teams to join.
